HSBC India launches 20 new airline and hotel transfer partners from April 2025, allowing credit cardholders to redeem points for top global travel rewards.

India’s travel and tourism sector has witnessed a remarkable surge in recent years, prompting financial institutions to enhance their offerings for jet-setting customers. Several banks—including Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, and American Express—have already aligned with major airline and hotel loyalty programs to allow credit cardholders to convert their reward points into travel perks.

Joining this growing trend, HSBC India has now expanded its credit card rewards ecosystem by introducing 20 new airline and hotel transfer partners. This move significantly boosts the value proposition for HSBC credit card users. In this article, we explore the full list of newly added transfer partners and explain how cardholders can leverage these alliances for more rewarding travel experiences.

Expansion of Transfer Partners

Effective April 1, 2025, HSBC India has significantly enhanced its credit card rewards program by introducing 20 new transfer partners. This expansion includes 15 airline loyalty programs and 5 hotel loyalty programs, offering cardholders a wider array of redemption possibilities in addition to the existing options. With more flexibility in how points can be used, HSBC cardholders now have greater value and versatility when redeeming their rewards.

The process of transferring points depends on the type of HSBC credit card owned, with each variant offering specific transfer ratios. For instance, customers holding the HSBC Premier Credit Card or TravelOne Credit Card can convert their reward points to airline frequent flyer programs at predefined ratios, allowing for seamless travel rewards and upgrades.

The tables above illustrate how HSBC reward points can be converted into airline frequent flyer miles or hotel loyalty points. For instance, if you’re using the HSBC Premier Credit Card and want to transfer points to the United MileagePlus program, the applicable ratio is 2:1—meaning two reward points are required to receive one airline mile.

It’s important to note that HSBC India may revise its list of transfer partners at any time. Partners may be added or removed, and conversion ratios are subject to change without prior notice.

Steps to Transfer Reward Points

As of April 1, 2025, HSBC India has upgraded its rewards ecosystem, enabling credit cardholders to redeem reward points exclusively through the HSBC India Mobile Banking App. To proceed, users must log into the app, select their credit card, navigate to the ‘Rewards Marketplace,’ and initiate a redemption request.

Before making any transfer, cardholders must ensure they are registered members of the respective airline or hotel loyalty program. During the transfer process, users will need to provide their membership number and relevant account details.

Here’s how long it takes for points to reflect in loyalty accounts after initiating a transfer:

  • Hainan Airlines Fortune Wings Club and Air India Maharaja Club: Within five working days
  • Japan Airlines (JAL Mileage Bank): Within ten working days
  • All other airline programs: Instantly or within one working day
  • Hotel loyalty programs: Instantly or within one working day

Reward points accumulated through HSBC Premier, TravelOne, and Visa Platinum credit cards are eligible for conversion into air miles or hotel points.

Using Your Transferred Points

Once the reward points are successfully transferred to a partner program, they can be used for various travel bookings, depending on the loyalty program’s rules.

For example, if a cardholder converts points to Air India’s Maharaja Club, they can use those miles to book domestic or international flights with Air India, which has one of the largest networks in India after IndiGo.

Similarly, points transferred to the Accor Live Limitless (ALL) program can be used to book stays at any of Accor’s 60+ hotels in India, which include popular brands like Novotel, Ibis, Raffles, Pullman, Grand Mercure, and Fairmont. Additionally, ALL points can be redeemed for international hotel bookings at participating Accor properties worldwide.

Using Credit Card Reward Points for Vacation Planning

Travel expenses like flight tickets and hotel stays often make up the bulk of vacation costs. Fortunately, these expenses can be minimized by using your credit card reward points. By transferring your HSBC credit card reward points to your preferred airline frequent flyer program (FFP) or hotel loyalty program, you can redeem these points to cover your flight and accommodation costs.

Some hotel loyalty programs, such as Accor Live Limitless (ALL), offer additional flexibility. For example, you can charge meal expenses to your room bill and pay them using loyalty points during checkout. Since meals typically account for a significant portion of vacation costs, covering these expenses with points can help reduce your overall spending. With careful planning, you can essentially fund much of your trip using your credit card reward points, making your vacation even more affordable.
